really bad at updating
i am so bad at keeping up with my blog. i get started and say i am going to post daily and now it has been over 3 months! i've shown in san francisco, chicago, new york and trying to get ready for the holiday circuit. i've made more rose dresses, emily dresses, dorrey sweaters, elaine dresses. and more. designed and shown my spring line and i am experimenting with knitting and wrapping to make neck wear. my computer crashed and i lost many great pictures. i am trying to take more but as i have said before it is not a strong point of mine. i am slowly trying to fill my etsy shop with new pieces http://www.etsy.com/listing/60497634/knitted-collar and i will get my home page of my website, www.myrebe.com updated with the next 2 months of shows. just a few things to do.

seattle show
thank you seattle for a good show. it was warm up there last week so i came home with most of my coats and sold most of my dresses. we had some great food, happy hour at list. an amazing dinner at kabul with teresa from texture and kate and rachel from spincycle yarns. thank you guys for taking us! before heading home we had lunch at macrina bakery. i bought their cookbook the food was so good.
we got home to 100+ degree weather....not pleasant. i cannot wait to head to san francisco next.
if anyone in seattle realizes they should have bought a coat feel free to email me to see what i have.
by the way happy birthday nancy, i love you!

almost packed
getting ready for shows always seems to be a hurry up and wait process. i am in the waiting stage.
i am pretty much packed just a few things to finish up and a store order to get out. dogs have been walked, bird fed and has clean water. trying to decide if seattle will support me enough to buy one more suitcase and pay extra or if what i have is enough to sell.
while passing time i finished covering a gross of buttons for the maryanne coats(i do have a few odds and ends of these on sale in older colors on my etsy site).
sometimes i wish i could just keep all the buttons together as inspiration, they look so pretty but needless to say it would be hard to close the coat!

sewing and eating
or is it eating and sewing?! let's just talk about the sewing part since i might shame myself discussing the "stuff my face" part. i have been sorting my vintage fabric over the last year that i have collected for the last 10 years. this job requires me to cut the pieces first into pockets for the paula pocket, second into horses for the mobiles, then big and small birds for the mobiles and lastly with the little pieces circles for the covered buttons and good lucks. given i am in a hurry and wait mode for samples, production and individual orders i have been spending the time making good luck necklaces. it is also a good excuse to avoid house cleaning too. i now have several in stock so if anyone desires owning and wearing one i have them on sale if you contact me directly for $40
check out hillery's blog for the mobiles

long beach this sunday
it's friday already, time is just flying by. next week is july, i've been in the house more than a month now and still have so much to do including taking pictures which i sadly fail at. how hard can it be to just point a digital camera at something and take the shot, for me that hard. lighting, composition and more do not come together, it is a good thing i am a fiber artist and not a photographer.
anyway this post was to be about sunday's show in long beach and to remind all of you to come see me and bring your friends and friends of friends.

getting caught up
i have been so bad at getting caught up on everything since moving. the new house is great but i still have things at the old place and am overwhelmed with trying to make the home and business one again.
it is slowly coming together. the goal is to get storage closets built outside for the inventory and start doing home events again.
i am still sorting through lots of old inventory and making new things.
i found myself to be wearing the kendall tunic a lot so i remade new ones from different fabrics. i'll attach the style here and get some images up of the new colors.
i am also trying to get things together for my next shows. patchwork in long beach is the first on the list, june 27th then in july i will be heading to seattle. that should be great. i'll get that info up soon.
i also am sending some things to grand rapids and then off to charlottesville,va. for a show at the "garage" the last weekend in june with my niece erika jane.

austin, texas, another first
i never got the pictures up from portland. it was gorgeous there and the show went well. i met an amazing artist, karen thurman and was able to acquire one of her beautiful sweaters. it makes me smile just thinking about it. we stayed with jill bliss who does lots of fun pieces, we ate well and i came home to find out my landlord at my office wanted me out in 3 days! last week we packed a pod and stuffed our cars then piled tons on top of what needs to be moved next week to the new house. i am still trying to find myself somewhere in the chaos of my life. but i am so excited to move into a new place and have rebe and my life under one roof for awhile. this friday will be taking me to austin, texas to do the first ever renegade show there. if any of you know people there place pass along the word.

never ending days
these days seem to be racing past me in a sea of paperwork. between trying to finalize a new place to live and work, sort out my finances and clear out a house that will be going up for short sale and is full of my life, my kids and many pieces left behind by other family members i am behind on running my business. orders are still being finished and need to be shipped, i have shows coming up.......i feel as if someone tossed my brain in the air and pieces are still trying to find a place to land. i apologize to all that i might have forgotten to return calls. i need reminders from everyone...please.
i am organizing my calendar, but here is a short run down to where i will be with my pieces for sale.

spring
spring is always a good time for a new start. it's too bad that i always need to be kicked in the ass to get myself to make these changes and embrace these new beginnings. i spent the weekend looking at possible rentals and sorting through a few things. the later is an interesting task when you have lived in one place for almost 32 years. the former wasn't much fun either knowing that it will only be temporary, maybe a year, maybe 2. it will also be time to bring the business back home. which brings me to the fact that if anyone out there wants to shop at the rebe storefront you need to do it soon! i can be reached by phone, 818 884 7323 or email, myrebe@gmail.com to set a time to come in. i have some great new spring dresses along with some beautiful new matilde sacs and passport wallets.

uncertainty
it is such a strange feeling to not know where you are going to live next. i know most people have experienced this several times, but i have known only 2 places, the house i was born in and this one in my 54 years here on earth. of course there was college but that is commonly a transient time in our lives.
we went to look at 2 places yesterday, all i can say is yuck!
last year when the recession started i began making two different pieces of fiber art to keep me busy and use odds and ends of fabric i had around.
one was my blossom dolls. i nicknamed them that because i thought of them as the 2009 depression dolls blossoming into a new future in 2010. once i keep reminding myself of this i can allow myself to embrace change as a good thing.
the other is my controlled chaos series of stitching. these pieces are with adam, my nephew now to be framed. both pieces of work are an on going process.
i hope one day to have the chaos more controlled and all our lives filled with blossoms.

my mom's birthday and house foreclosure
today is my mom's birthday. if she were here she would be 88. i sadly feel i can not express the joy and warmth she brought into our home all my life because i am feeling sad about having to deal with lawyers today. my house is being foreclosed after being here for almost 32 years. it helped me put my 2 daughters through college and start rebe. but being a small business in a struggling economy the banks have turned their backs on me. i was told i do not qualify for the making homes affordable act. i was not told why. they are willing to sell it for less than the mortgage but they are not willing to help me stay in it. i do not understand what it takes to play the game here. if any else does please advice.
i will continue rebe and will continue raising my last daughter at home and share in the joy of all of them as they are embracing adult hood. i will remind myself everyday how blessed i am to have had the wonderful mother, sister, brother and nephew and the father, daughters and nephew, niece and great niece i still have.
but i am sad and angry over our society.
please everyone who loves rebe apparel and accessories, please help pass along the website, the blogs, the shows. please help me keep it going. i want to keep creating and designing beautiful pieces for everyone to enjoy.
happy birthday mom.
i love you

good morning
I am new to blogging so it might take me a bit to get it right.
today seems an appropriate day to start since it is 12 years ago i lost my sister.
nancy was an amazing person and i miss her terribly but i am so grateful i was able to share the years i had with her. 2 weeks ago i got to visit with her son my nephew, his wife and agnes su, their new baby. it was wonderful and i know that she would be so very pleased and proud of them.
